There's someone new in Marula Grove

If you've already met Milo, you'll know that his curiosity has a habit of leading him towards new friends, new adventures — and occasionally a little bit of trouble.

Well, this September, there's somebody new waiting for him in Marula Grove.

Meet Jai the Jungle Owlet.

Fluffy, beautiful and with the most enormous golden eyes, Jai seems perfectly at home high amongst the trees of Marula Grove.

Except Jai has a secret.

He's an owl who's frightened of the dark.

Yes. An owl.

And yes… the dark.

I'm not going to tell you what happens next — you'll have to join Milo and Jai to discover that for yourself!

Why Jai's story?

Behind Milo's adventures there is always something I'd like children — and perhaps the grown-ups reading with them — to think about.

With Jai, it's fear.

When a child tells us they're frightened, it's incredibly tempting to say:

“There's nothing to be scared of.”

We mean it as reassurance.

But what if, instead, we became curious?

What feels scary?

What might help?

And, perhaps most importantly, what if we simply listened?

Because sometimes a child doesn't need us to convince them that their fear isn't real.

Sometimes they just need to know that someone has heard them.

A rather perfect time for a new adventure 🎒

Milo's Journey — The Dark Isn't Scary arrives on 1st September 2026, just as children across the country are beginning another school year.

New classrooms.

New teachers.

New friendships.

New routines.

September can bring enormous excitement — and sometimes a few butterflies too.

It therefore feels like exactly the right moment for a little owl called Jai to make his appearance.

And I'm going to leave you with this… 🌙
